“ I met Coach B when I decided to restart my fitness journey in 2011. I met him during a couple of running meet-ups in a group called "Foodies who like fitness too," that were for the Taji-100 event. I was always the "go big or go home type," so I signed up even though I could barely run a mile consistently. I wanted to learn to run better,or at least jog a 5k, despite my allergy-induced asthna.
The second meet-up I went to was the final stretch of the Taji-100. Although he and fellow cohorts finished long before I did, Coach B came back for me and jog, walked my pace until I could finish my miles that added up to the 100 mile goal.
Since that day,I've been a part of Too Legit to Quit, where Coach B has connected many fabulous runners and fitness gurus to uplift and encourage everyone to keep moving. I went from 1 milers to half-marathons and Spartan races! I don't think I would've gotten that far without Coach B and the 2L2Q family.
Coach B (or Big Brother "B" to me) has been there during my best and worse moments of running.During a Golden Gate Half Marathon, Coach B checked on me even though we did not register for the race together. When I said I needed help, that I needed more energy or water, minutes later I saw Coach B jogging towards me. He gave me his extra gu and finished the last stretch with me, cheering me along and pacing me through.
He always reminded me of how far I've come since Day 1, especially when I am giving myself a hard time about a specific race or run.
And he still does that for me,and for everyone in 2L2Q. He constantly is improving and encouraging others to do so as well, while uplifting everyone's current accomplishments.
Thank you Coach B.”

“My name is Cece Powell and I’ve known Coach B for quite sometime now.
Two words best describe him - MOTIVATOR and FAMILY.
Shared some miles with him when I did the tough Quicksilver 50K and he helped me get going during those moments we shared the trails together. He came for me, ran with me and gave me lots of love and support when I did my 100 miler. Then I was diagnosed with cancer and he did not leave me. I went to his track workout and he stayed with me and helped me get it done. He made me feel like a rockstar after. He always goes out of his way to help people and I’m a living proof of that. One day, I needed help to go to Stanford Hospital for my treatment. He gladly drove me there despite the fact that he had to go see his daughter for lunch that day. He didn’t have to do it but because he treats me like a family, he did.
I appreciate Coach B so much and am forever grateful for him. To him, you’re a family and he’d do everything to help you not only with your fitness goals but also with anything that he can help you with.”

“I began training with Coach B in early 2018. He invited me to attended a weekly track workout every Wednesday morning at 5:00am. First in need to say that I didn’t know anything about speed workouts (What the heck is a 400, 200, 100, or a 50). Secondly, I know Coach B didn’t actually want to work out at 5:00am, but he was doing it to accommodate the needs of everyone he was training at the time. That’s who he is... he SHOWS UP and he is dedicated to your training needs! That year, I committed to train with Coach B and by early fall, I had PR’d my 5k, 10k and 1/2 marathon distance. Coach encouraged me to go for the full marathon. I had completed one ten years prior and decided I would NEVER do it again. After some serious thought, I decided to go for it and PR’d the full marathon by more than 1/2 an hour from my previous time! I am so grateful for Coach B‘S commitment to my training and I have seen him do the same for many others! Thank you Coach B For being the best Coach, mentor, and friend!”
